A motion control system is very similar
to a sound system.
The main components of a sound system
are;
1) Loud Speaker
2) Power Amplifier
3) Source of Information
4) Power Supply
The main components of a motion control
system are;
1) Motor
2) Motor Driver
3) Motion Controller
4) Power Supply
Besides the above components, the
following elements may be incorporated in the system;
1) Limit or End of Travel Switches
These switches stop the motion in the case they are hit. This feature is
to protect the mechanical system against a malfunction.
2) Home Switch
Some systems need to search for a reference point during the power-up. A
home switch serves this purpose.
3) Discrete, TTL / CMOS Signals
Some applications may require to
interface with other switches, transducers, sensors and devices with TTL
/ CMOS outputs.
4) Analog Signals
Some applications may require to
interface with other transducers, sensors and devices with analog
outputs.
5) Quadrature Signals
Some applications may require to
interface with other transducers, sensors and devices with quadrature
outputs.
